Tax Season Do’s and Don’ts

ERock Photo - Tax Season Again 1.24.14It’s That Time…

We frequently hear from others, do this…don’t do that. I am going to focus on the do’s of preparing for tax filing and, I am going to simplify this process for you. Below are a few bottom line tax tips I discussed on my radio spot this week on WNBP

Now is the time to organize all of your tax-related documents.

Tip: Be sure not to file until you have all necessary documents. We recommend using “the envelope technique;” allocate an envelope you can store your forms and documents in when they start coming in the mail.

Once this is complete, reach out to your CPA to set up an appointment.

Ask Lots of Questions Now – Even If It’s for Next Year

Tip: Ask any questions you may have early in the season…don’t wait until the day of your appointment. Get them out of the way now to be better prepared and efficient.

Find The Best Tax Preparer for You

Tip: Do find the right preparer for you…don’t do the return yourself. Even if you think they appear simple, some of the forms are quite complex. You want to ensure you receive the refund you deserve and a professional CPA provides this for you. At Erock Tax, we offer a full comprehensive service. In our tax-planning and financial planning firm we offer year-round services, as well as eminent education and information that you may not receive elsewhere.

Worth the Investment

Tip: Do pay the qualified advisor…following what  your neighbor does is not effective. Everyone’s situations are totally different, that’s why you want to pay the qualified advisor. He or she will take you the rest of the way to ensure you get the refund you deserve and your personal questions are answered.

Get The Refund You Deserve

Tip: Do get the refund you deserve…don’t continue your old tax and financial habits. Why would you want to volunteer more money in advance just to get it back?

If you follow these tips, speak with your advisor now and get organized, your tax season should be smooth sailing!
